Michele Bravi, classe ’94, dall’Umbria al mondo, passando per numerosi palchi con performances e traguardi indimenticabili, da X Factor a Sanremo, in un viaggio straordinario fatto di mete, paesaggi bellissimi, vicoli ciechi e smarrimenti lungo la via, ma soprattutto di rinascite. Con la complessa filosofia, seppur fatta anche di quotidianità, che l’ha guidato in questo viaggio, ora guida tutti coloro che ascoltano attraverso la geografia del suo viaggio fatto in assenza di luce, ma mai in assenza di meravigliosa poesia: la geografia del buio.
Attraverso la tua musica, le tue parole, continui a parlare di meravigliose rinascite. Parlando di rinascite qual è il panorama culturale (musica, letteratura, teatro, cinema o qualunque forma d'arte) che ti ha accompagnato durante la tua rinascita?
Quando si parla di creatività non riesco mai a stabilire un perimetro. Tutto ciò che è visione creativa del mondo mi affascina incondizionatamente, anche se molto distante dalla mia. Subisco da sempre il fascino delle storie al di là del vocabolario artistico con cui vengono raccontate.
Ed invece dopo la tua nascita: in Umbria, durante la tua infanzia?
Nella mia infanzia il faro più grande è sempre stato l’amore dei miei nonni: la loro capacità ad abitare la semplicità, la loro dignità nell’affrontare il male e la loro abilità di rimanere sempre
intrecciati fra di loro.
Qual è il tuo rapporto con i perché? E con il perdono?
In me convive tanta razionalità e tanto sogno. Crescendo però ho accettato che non a tutto si può dare spiegazione e che la ricerca dei perché non sempre ha senso.
Oltre alla geografia del buio, hai in mente una geografia della luce? È difficile orientarsi anche in questa? Troppo abbaglio?
La geografia del buio racconta che è possibile orientarsi anche in assenza di luce. Questo non presuppone che il buio sia il male e la luce il bene. Nel buio succedono delle cose meravigliose: al buio ci si racconta, al buio si fa l’amore. Credo che vedere luce e buio come opposti sia troppo semplicistico, sono due fatti che non vanno giudicati.
Qual è il posto nella geografia terrestre che ti fa stare sempre bene?
Amo il grigio, la pioggia e la nebbia.
Di quale brand vorresti essere il direttore creativo?
Amo il mondo della sartorialità alla follia. In questo tra l’altro l’Italia ne è sempre stata un'eccellenza. Non saprei dirti dove mi vedrei ma posso dirti che ho un’ammirazione totale per il lavoro del romanticismo audace di Pier Paolo Piccioli, dell’eccentricità lineare di Miuccia Prada, la sensualità ruggente Fausto Puglisi, mi piace anche tanto la poesia che porta in scena Marras ogni volta. Sto seguendo anche con gusto lo switch di Sabato De Sarno da Gucci.
“PER ME SEI IMPORTANTE" è uscita pochi giorni fa: "Te lo dirò"... Alla fine glielo hai detto?
Sempre.

Tornando alla geografia del buio: quando e come ti è balenata l'idea di una geografia in assenza di luce?
Quando ho capito che era importante sentirti dire che il buio è comunque una casa da arredare.
Qual è la più bella alba che tu abbia visto?
Quella dell’Umbria.
L’ultimo bacio sulle labbra che hai dato te lo ricordi bene?
Assolutamente.
Dire a qualcuno: "maneggiami con cura" sembr molto difficile. Che ne pensi?
Credo che sia una dichiarazione di fragilità molto potente. Mai nascondere la propria storia. Lo trovo un atto altruistico quel del raccontarsi per chi si è.
“Ride bene chi ha pianto prima" direi ascoltandoti cantare "tutto rinasce anche da un pianto": piangi spesso? E poi, te lo ricordi il secondo prima di piangere come ti senti?
Lo trovo liberatorio. Mi commuovo con facilità. Pure troppo.
“Di cosa sono fatti gli angeli? La vita breve dei coriandoli". Un angelo ce l'hai nella vita?
Ognuno ne ha tanti, deve solo saperlo riconoscere.
Se fossi un coriandolo di che colore vorresti essere?
Bianco.
Nella "Geografia del buio", la storia di un corpo: un magistrale lavoro di autoanalisi, meravigliosa! Quanto ci hai impiegato a scriverla? Ti ricordi?
Credo si sia trattato di un anno di scrittura ma quello è un disco a cui ogni giorno aggiungerei una frase. Chi impara a convivere col dolore non smette mai di scrivere ciò che sta ancora imparando.
Qual è la tua poesia d'amore preferita?
Alda Merini rimane la più grande per me.

Se la vita è un'immersione, sei bravo con l'apnea?
Credo di sì, anzi devo imparare a stare anche più in superficie.
“Quando un desiderio cade" è un testo molto quotidiano, poco metaforico e assai realistico, nonostante il titolo onirico: quando nella vita capisci che è tempo di "tornare alla realtà materiale e quotidiana" cosa pensi? Cosa provi?
Penso che la quotidianità sia difficile delle volte, noiosa altre volte e poi diventa bellissima, e poi ancora ne senti il bisogno.
La quotidianità è la cosa più mutevole che conosco.
Cosa c'è sette passi più in là?
C’è la persona a cui quel disco è dedicato.
A proposito di falene, qual è il tuo rapporto con la night life?
Pessimo. Amo stare a casa. Sempre in compagnia ma a casa.
Una cronoca nella geografia, ancora storia: Michele, la tua storia, seppur incerta come dici, ti piace?
Non sempre.
La poesia che hai donato al mondo con questo disco oltre che sublime è complessa a tratti: qual è il tuo rapporto con le spiegazioni? Ti spieghi spesso? Una richiesta di spiegazioni cosa ti suscita?
Ho iniziato a scrivere canzoni proprio perché è il modo migliore che ho per spiegarmi. L’unico che conosco.
Il prossimo viaggio che farai sarà per dove? Se lo puoi dire.
Vorrei tornare in California.

Michele Bravi, born in ’94, from Umbria to the world, passing through numerous stages with performances and unforgettable goals, from X Factor to Sanremo, in an extraordinary journey made of destinations, beautiful landscapes, dead ends and lost ways, but above all of rebirth. With the complex philosophy, also made of everyday life, that guided him on this journey, he now guides all those who listen through the geography of his own journey made in the absence of light, but never in the absence of wonderful poetry: the geography of darkness.
Through and throughout your music, your words, you keep talking about wonderful rebirths. Talking about rebirths: what was the cultural panorama (music, literature, art, theatre, cinema or any other art form) which were around you during your rebirth?
When talking about creativity I’m never able to define a perimeter. Everything which can be a creative vision of the world fascinates me unconditionally, even if far far away from mine.
I have always been fascinated by stories beyond the artistic vocabulary with which they are told.
And after your birth: in Umbria during childhood.
In my childhood the greatest beacon has always been the love of my grandparents: their attitude of living in simplicity, their dignity in facing evil and their ability to always remain intertwined.
What's your relationship with "whys and becauses"? And with forgiveness?
Very much ratio and dream co-live within me. Growing up I accepted that not everything is explainable and that the research of explanations is always reasonable.
Besides the geography of darkness, do you have a geography of light in mind? Is it difficult to find one's way out of this one? Too much blunder?
The geography of darkness tells us that is possible to orient oneself even in the absence of light. This doesn’t presuppose that darkness is evil and light is good. In the dark wonderful things happen: in the dark you tell yourself, in the dark we make love. I think that seeing light and dark as opposites is too simplistic, these are two facts that do not should be judged.
What is the place in the terrestrial geography that always make you feel well?
I love grey sky, rain and fog.
Of which brand you would want to be the creative director?
I’m crazy about the world of tailoring. In this, among other things, Italy has always been an excellence. I couldn’t tell where I would see myself but I can tell you that I have a giant admiration for the piece of work on the audacious romanticism of Pier Paolo Piccioli, of the linear eccentricity of Miuccia Prada, of the roaring sensuality of Fausto Puglisi, but I also like very much the poetry that Antonio Mares brings on stage every time. I’m also following with interest the switch given by Sabato De Sarno at Gucci.
“PER ME SEI IMPORTANTE” has been released some days ago. "Te lo dirò" ("I will tell you")... At last, have you told him?
Always.
Going back to "La geografia del buio" ("The geography of darkness"): when and how have you thought of a geography in the absence of light?
When I understood that hearing somebody say darkness is a house to furnish was important.
Which is the most beautiful sunrise you have seen?
Umbria’s ones.
The last kiss on lips you have given, you remember it well?
Absolutely.
To tell somebody "hand me carefully" seems very difficult. What do you think?
I believe it is a powerful declaration of fragility. Never hide your story. I find the telling you as you are an altruistic act.
“Who has cried before, laugh longer" I would say while listening you sing "Everything is re-born also from a cry": do you often cry? And besides, do you remember how you feel the second before starting cry?
I find crying liberating. I easily get emotional. Even too much.
“Di cosa sono fatti gli angeli? La vita breve dei coriandoli" ("Of what angels are made? The short life of confetti"). Have you ever met an angel in your life?
Each one of us has so many, you only have to recognise it.
If you were a confetto, what color you were?
White.
In the "Geography of darkness", there is a story of a body; a masterful work of self-analysis, wonderful! How long did it take you to write it? Do you remember it?
I thinks it took a year of writing, however, that is an album to which I would add a verse everyday. Who learns to co-live with pain doesn’t stop writing what he or she's still learning.
What is your favourite love poem?
In my opinion, Alda Merini was and remains the best.
If life is a long dive, are you good at apnea?
I think I am, actually I must learn to stay even more on the surface.
“Quando un desiderio cade" ("When a desider fall") havs very day-to-day and pratical lyrics, less metaphorical and very realistic, despite the oniric title: what do you think and how you feel when in life, you understand that is time to "return to material and all-day reality" ?
I believe that everyday life is tough sometimes, boring other times and then becomes wonderful and then you start feel the needing of it again and again. Everydayness is the most changeable and changing thing I know.

Regarding moths, what is your relationship with night life?E
Very bad. I love staying at home. Always in company, but at home.
A chronicle in the geography, history again: Michele, do you like your history, even if uncertain as you declare?
Not always.
The poetry you donated to the world with this album beyond sublime is sometimes complex: what is your relationship with explanations? Do you often explain yourself? An explanation request what it does to you?
I started writing songs precisely because it is the best way to explain everything and explain myself. The only one I know.
Where are you going for your next travel, if you can tell us?
I’d like to come back to California.
